Guess What?

Here's something that most people don't know about the famous Serbian inventor, Nikola Tesla. Around 1880,  Tesla discovered that sparks were generated when he petted his cat, named Macak. This strange event led him to focus his studies on electricity. After that,  he went on to discover the rotating magnetic field, which is the basis of most of the modern-day technology that we see today. Tesla also invented and developed the Tesla coil, and induction coil used a lot in radio technology.

So it turns out that cats are the brilliant inventors of the world, not humans! I wonder what other secrets cats have hidden from us......

The Naming of Cats By T.S. Elliot

The Naming of Cats is a difficult matter,
It isn't just one of your holiday games;
You may think at first I'm as mad as a hatter
When I tell you, a cat must have THREE DIFFERENT NAMES.
First of all, there's the name that the family use daily,
Such as Peter, Augustus, Alonzo or James,
Such as Victor, or Jonathan, George or Bill Bailey---
All of them sensible everyday names.
There are fancier names if you think they sound sweeter,
Some for the gentlemen, some for the dames;
Such as Plato, Admetus, Electra, Demeter----
All of them sensible everyday names.
But I tell you, a cat needs a name that's particular,
 A name that's peculiar, and more dignified,
Else how can he keep up his tail perpendicular,
Or spread out his whiskers, or cherish his pride?
Of names of this kind, I can give you a quorum,
Such as Munkustrap,  Quaxo or Coricopat.
Such as Bombalurina, or else Jellyorum---
Names that never belong to more than one cat.
But above and beyond, there's still one name left over,
And that is the name that you will never guess;
The name that no human research can discover---
But the CAT HIMSELF KNOWS, and will never confess.
The reason, I tell you, is always the same:
His mind is engaged in rapt contemplation
Of the thought, of the thought, of the thought of his name:
His ineffable effable
Effanineffable
Deep and inscrutable singular Name.

In Defense Of Felines :

  • Cats don't shred furniture- they just think that your house needs redecorating.
  • Cats don't wake you up at extremely early hours-they just appreciate non-tardiness.
  • Cats don't pester you- they are just informing you of their presence.
  • Cats don't scratch- they are just pushing you away (except with claws out).
  • Cats aren't nice- they are the rulers of the world

Bill Clinton and His Cat

There were so many presidents, so it's not surprising that some were cat owners.  The most famous presidential cat of all was named Socks, (a black-and-white kitty) owned by Bill Clinton (president from 1993-2001) . Clinton loved his cat so much that he didn't let his photographers touch her. The funny thing is, Bill Clinton was actually allergic to cats! There's someone whom I admire.
